Creative Educational Music Games for Children

There are many educational music games the teacher can prepare her students for. If she is teaching elementary school children, the game should involve something simple and fun for the children. A simple game of clap hands to the rhythm will get the children involved while teaching them to appreciate the beat of the music. A continuation of this theme could involve other body parts like stamping their feet while clapping their hands, or perhaps different children doing one of these things while another group did the other.

This is fun for the child as well as being a rhythmical learning experience. This type of exercise also teaches them to work in groups, although of course they will not see this is being work, they will see it as play.

Once you have them working well as a group, it is a good idea to take an individual child and ask them to do something different, like click their tongue or their fingers in time to the music, while the rest continue with the exercise as previously instructed.

Some children struggle with rhythm, and find it difficult to keep to the beat without the group support. For those children, keep the music short before moving on to the next child. If this type of educational music game is repeated at each lesson, and it always done in such a way that the children enjoy it, they will all benefit from their learning experience and you as a teacher will know which child needs that little bit extra encouragement and coaching to help them realize their full potential.

When you think you've done almost every educational music games out there, be creative and come up with your own original games. Your students will become more interested in your lessons and appreciate different forms of music. Also try to incorporate some educational music worksheets in your lessons at different time to keep it interesting.
